ABOUT

INTRODUCTION

Minster Bells Apartment and The Victorian House: two superb family-run self-catering holiday properties in the heart of York.

As the name suggests, Minster Bells Apartment lies in the very heart of York, with incredible Minster views from the front door (and the bells don't ring at night!) All the city's numerous attractions are literally on the doorstep, along with shops, cafes, restaurants and the beautiful Museum Gardens. Despite its central location, it is blissfully quiet and peaceful.

The Victorian House, set within the city walls, offers a fabulous combination of traditional Victorian charm and 21st century mod cons. A short walk from the centre of town and its myriad shops, restaurants and museums, it is also close to parks, playgrounds and the river.

Two very different properties - both fabulous in their own special ways.

THE PROPERTIES

Minster Bells Apartment couldn't be more central but has plenty of space and peace and quiet for those who need to work or even just have a restful night's sleep - but with all the delights of the city quite literally on the doorstep.

Stylish and luxurious - but, most importantly, designed to be a home from home. You will therefore find everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay.

While the optimum number of guests is 2-4 (two bedrooms, house bathroom and en suite shower room with huge walk-in shower), the sitting room includes a sofa bed (suitable for two children or one adult) for larger family groups. The second bedroom can be configured as either two singles OR one super-king; please specify your requirements when booking.

*

Combining Victorian charm and 21st century convenience, The Victorian House offers comfortable, elegant and stylish accommodation a stone's throw from the centre of York.

The house is ideal for four, but will also sleep a total of six (one double bedroom, one twin, one sofa bed - suitable for two children or one adult). House bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, plus second loo downstairs. Culture fiends will be in Paradise, while teenagers and anyone who needs to work from home will be equally happy with the wifi provision and internet-enabled TV. Younger guests will no doubt enjoy the proximity to three different playgrounds (including one at the end of the road, which is ideal for toddlers). Canine guests can let off steam on the Racecourse, only a short walk away.

Please note that smoking is not permitted in either property, and that we do not accept bookings from single-sex parties of more than three people. We do not accept bookings for stag or hen parties under any circumstances.

SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO

Shopping

York is blessed with a huge array of shops to suit every taste and budget, from High Street to designer to local independents.

A short walk from town, Bishopthorpe Road (dubbed the "Notting Hill of the North") offers a superb collection of super-stylish independent shops and delis.

History and Culture

History and culture ooze from every inch of York. Try The Castle Museum, The Yorkshire Museum, Clifford's Tower, the City Walls, The Jorvik Museum, Dig, York's Chocolate Story, Fairfax House, The Treasurer's House, and Barley Hall - just for starters...

The Markets

York is home to the all-year-round Shambles Market, where you'll find everything from fresh asparagus to Zazan Boutique - along with the massively popular Food Court. Additional seasonal markets always draw in the crowds.

The Minster

The central point of the city, the Minster is renowned both for its architecture and its Choir. Take part in daily worship, climb the Central Tower for unbeatable, panoramic views of the city, or book a Hidden Minster Tour.

Eating Out

York is packed with cafes and eateries from takeaways to fine dining. Brave the queues for a Fat Rascal at the iconic Betty's, or sample the locally made fare in Fossgate and Goodramgate.

Further Afield

If on other days you fancy a break from street life, you can take a pretty bus or train ride direct to the seaside (decent fish and chips more or less guaranteed!), or you can visit such spectacular places as Castle Howard, Harewood House or Fountains and Rievaulx Abbeys.

GUEST REVIEWS

"Pictures couldn’t do justice for how beautiful this home is. Perfect location as it is both near and walking distance to the train station but also to city centre. Neighbourhood is quaint and quiet. Clean, spacious, and beds are comfortable. Makes me want to visit York again. My family probably spend a good half an hour just admiring the decorations" (KV, The Philippines, The Victorian House, May 2022)
